This will always irk me as Megas are optional to begin with. It should be treated like any other Pokemon you have and your choice on what kind of team you have.

It's the only truly useless mega as he loses bulk and only hits as hard as a regular Mewtwo with a Life Orb. It's just poor planning all around.

In sun, his Fire Blasts are ridiculously powerful and can 2HKO even things that resist it. After a single Nasty Plot it just tears things apart.

Even so, I found him really underwhelming when I tried to use him on a sun team.

Adamant Mega Blaziken is faster and stronger than Jolly LO Blaziken.

And Vanilla Blaziken NEEDS to run Jolly if it wants to outspeed 130s after just one boost.
MBlaziken is slighty bulkier too, so it can take resisted hits better, and isn't killing itself everytime it attacks.

Mewtwo X is so much better.

Has the Same Sp Attack as regular Mewtwo so it can go mixed.

Has a massive attack stat and it's SubPunch set will be godlike when it comes out, and be able to abuse 120 base power low kicks in Ubers. One may not gain speed, but you're already one of the fastest ubers anyway.

Volt-switch + Intimidate is a great combo. Abuse that.

And if you are able to get Lightning Rod to activate before he mega evolves, he can OHKO quite a lot of things with Thunderblot/Flamethrower/HP Ice.

Gyardos is a great team mate. It's Electric bait and can also switch in on a lot of Manectric's weaknesses, i.e. Earthquake.

They both have benefits. With Timid he's not as vulnerable on the turn he mega evolves and can Volt Switch out, and with Modest he can OHKO a lot of things he previously couldn't. But you have the rest of your team for that.

He's not that bad, I used him, he's like a Chandelure that can switch attacks because most are scarfed.

I don't even set sun for him, though, usually I use Nasty Plot but I have a hard time setting it up. Now that I know that he gets Destiny Bond, I might use him again.
