I recently got back into Pokemon after skipping Gen 5.

What's the best way to transfer ALL my Gen 4 Pokemon to X/Y?

I guess I need to buy one of the black/white games then use Pokemon bank but will I only be able to do one transfer at a time from gen 4 to 5? and how long will I need to play for until I can trade?

Please tell me there is a easier way.

You need to beat the game in order to use the transfer service from 4 to 5. Just play it, they're fun. You can probably get it used for, like, $10. It also helps if you have a friend's DS to borrow, since you need two systems to do the transfer.

if you have access to a device like pic related that can back up cartridge saves, Pokegen will automatically fix any Gen 4 .pkm files dragged into a Gen 5 game.

You can also back up retail cartridge saves with a standard flashcart and some wizardry with your Wi-Fi router. Slower and less reliable than that device though. A pity that thing works with all 3DS games except Animal Crossing and Pokémon.

A month is enough to transfer all your mons from previous gen, sure. But just wait until you have to pay to transfer mons to gen VII games. Or the next remakes.

There would be hassle involved though if you have a digital copy of X/Y. You'd need to catch a LOT of shitmons in your X/Y to trade to your friend who has Bank. Also, the actual storage space is going to be useful this gen with how easy it is to amass 5IV babies to trade for other 5IV babies. I for one am looking forward to completing a Living National Pokédex including Formes. I currently have Living Kalos Pokédex (650-718) and Living Fully-Evolved National Dex (3-649).

It is very much not free. But it also is a sum that will not impact your livelihood, be you prince or pauper. It will, however be enough to give Game Freak, the creators of all of our favorite Pokemon, The people for which we would not be talking about this right now if they did not exist, a nice boost to their coffers and the payment details can help them coordinate the best towns and cities to host events, as well as get a massive grip on their geographic demographic, something potentially MORE valuable then all the Fivers the world round.

FFII wasn't that bad to me, but I can't really go back to without playing a mod of some kind. If you go to romhacking.net there's a few balance mods on there if I recall correctly. Try one of those and see if it suits your fancy better.
