Serena is the more calm one and kind of motherly, like she feels like she has to be the most mature out of the group.

This was a problem I had going through the whole game. Constantly 20 levels higher then everyone I fought. I went into the E4 10 levels higher then everyone even. It was so easy being that much higher.

My biggest issues with the "rivals" today is that they are worse than you in every way.
They even lag behind you nowadays. I don't know how many times I'll enter a town and they'll come running in from behind me, say a few words, and then head into town without even so much as a battle.
