I said that breeding was incredibly grindy. There are a multitude of ways to "waste" time, some of them are fun, some of them are not. Riding your bike back and forth and in circles falls into the latter category, unfortunately, and it's a really mundane barrier to breeding Pokemon worth of competitive battles.
Your analogy is also retarded because the breeding mechanics in Pokemon aren't necessary to actually complete the game in any fashion. You can pretty much ignore it entirely, it's largely post-game shit you do for the sake of raising a competitive team.
