The advent of Pokemon Bank has been one of the most contentious issues ever to rock the Pokemon community. Many of us won't stand for the blatant exploitation of the fanbase by way of holding previously-standard features at ransom at an unconscionable markup. But that's only scratching the surface; it's really indicative of the monopolistic stranglehold Nintendo and Game Freak maintain over data WE generate. They name their price because they forbid others from competing with them. It's nor fair and it's not right. It's time to take a stand. It's time to DO something. And fortunately, it's very simple.

Our more intrepid /tr/ainers spend their time cracking the codes that make programs like Instacheck and Pokegen possible (contentious issues, I know, but bear with me and please save discussion of this topic for the myriad other threads). Let's use that ingenuity to DEVISE OUR OWN STORAGE PROGRAM. (While we're at it, let's make it local, saving to SD card rather than cloud).

Then, apply for publication in e-Shop. Nintendo, tryants that they are, will inevitably deny its publication.

That's when we take it to court.

We can easily successfully argue that Nintendo and Game Freak have no right to maintain exclusive control of data, data WE generate, or "how we use it." With victory in the courtroom, we'll have a cheaper third-party solution to Pokemon Bank--but that merely opens the door for a new era of open-source projects and competing third-party services for the Pokemon ecosystem.

We've often said "anonymous is legion." Now let's act like it. Let's get to work.
