This is a tournament over what will be the Christmas Holiday for most folks on /vp/. It will start on December 20, and rounds will occur every 2 days, until it has completed.
The rules for this double elimination tourney are simple.
1. You have a team of 6 pokemon, but the actual battle is 3v3. Finals will be 4v4.
2. Pokemon on your team must all share a chosen type. Your type will be made public. Megas that change type are valid for ALL possible type teams.
3. Flat rules. So no special pokemon
4. Matches are best out of 3 battles. Substitutions are limited to your team of 6, but are allowed.
5. Be as assholish and dastardly as you want to be. There are no bans on any pokemon or moves, aside from the legendaries, as per flat rules.
6. Disconnects will count as draws, unless the players decide to redo that particular battle. Having a record of repeated disconnects may result in a disqualification.
7. Unplayed rounds count as a loss. More rules on this forthcoming
8. Mons obtainable in gen 6 only. This shouldn't actually be an issue though, as everyone should have their teams assembled before pokebank is up and running.
9. NO SIMULATORS! Let's do this all through the 3DS and then post up the battle videos for everyone to watch!
10. There are no prizes. If you hack to predict moves, all you're doing is cheating yourself out of any sort of real victory here. This is for fun.
Preliminary registration form is HERE:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1a5kVqohSNfor8c7h--yZTDvmQW40FR5hA052cgjHaQs/viewform -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One more week to register! We currently have NO grass or ice entrants! Remember that being the only uneliminated participant for a type guarantees you progress to the top 18 brackets!

Thanks again for the Abra breeding. I went about 15~ boxes into masuda before giving up, i've learned never to masuda again. I ended up training a 4IV abra that had HP Ice, it's missing defence but who cares because base 55 HP anyway.
Right now I've just realised I missed the Stone Edge TM and I've got to go all the way into the goddamn frost cavern to grab it. Siiiighhh
Oh yeah, I chose rock type, because like you, I thought it would be better for diversity. But it turns out rock wasn't unused at all but oh well, i'm still running with it. I've got a swell team ready to
rock and I know that I'm gonna do well.

For Masuda you just need luck. I hatched a shiny larvesta in Black after 8 boxes, but after 15 it is natural to get a bit bored, I must say.
Lately I returned to my Animal Crossing village, I had some things that had to be done. But after noticing this nice "gym leader challenge" I had to return to pokémon. I don't think I'll do well since Ice does not offer much, but for sure I'll have fun!

Froslass is definitely something to consider, as her typing gives her an immunity to one of ice's most annoying weakness, and if you plan on running Mega Yeti, she gets an evasion boost in the hail OR the ability to shut down moves used on her.
Mamoswine is another good one, as he has the bulk plus STAB EQ for taking out fire types.

No, immunity to Fighting doesn't make it immune to other types (except Normal), but with what is arguably the worst type in the game defensively, and when your best shot in most matches will be to win as quickly as possible because your 'mons can't take a hit, any immunity can be a lifesaver.

Can a team use a pokemon that changes type through a mega evolution? Like, could a dark trainer use a gyarados because of its mega? And on that note, could a flying trainer use a mega gyarados at all?

>>16705344 The problem with bug teams in general is that they require a lot of momentum in order to really get going.
Volcarona has to QD before it has any chance of making any sort of meaningful impact on the opponent's party, and even then Talonflame shuts it down completely and the only way you have any chance of surviving is to predict a switch and Psychic on the switch-in, which at +1 has no chance of OHKOing.
Scizor too needs some kind of boosting in order to do a good job. If you go CB, you risk being locked into a move and giving your opponent a free switch; bulky SD requires a turn or even more to set up. Unboosted BP hurts, but usually isn't enough to KO anything by itself.
Heracross goes without explaining; sure it has an easier time in monotype but it's still heavily reliant on what your opponent sends in. Say you KO your opponent's grass-type with Megahorn and he sends in Ferrothorn. Unless you switch out and let it seed something else, in that time he can seed you while you take Iron Barbs + Rocky Helmet damage, and protect every other turn to make you kill yourself.
Granted, if you allow bug teams to gain momentum on you, consider your battle lost. But they're not that much better than Baton Pass teams in that if you so much as interrupt one part of their momentum everything just comes crashing down.
Just my two cents anyways.

>>16706737 1) No prankster currently in existence can outspeed Talonflame unless they completely invest in speed EVs, have a speed-favoring nature, and a choice scarf. And even then it's a crapshoot for most of them. Moreover, Grass's prankster isn't available at this time.
2) No pranksters learn sleep-inducing moves. The best they can hope for is thunderwave or a confusion tactic. Evasion is also an option, but that relies on luck, and you're probably not getting another shot at it.
Don't get me wrong, there ARE types that do just find against talonflame, like Tyranitar, most bulky water types, etc. But at the same time it makes it so anyone who has a type disadvantage has to specifically prepare for talonflame. Grass and bug teams especially.
It DOES encourage outside the box thinking...but at the same time it's almost like saying the box is off-limits.

For instance, giving Lorelei Slowbro and Lance...everything other than the Dratini line...was because there weren't enough pokemon to meet the theme.
In fact that was quite a problem for the elite 4 of gen 1: Not ONE of them had a team completely filled with their chosen type, since they represented some of the rarest types in the game at the time. Lance and Bruno outright cheat with their choices, and Agatha and Lorelei's chosen gimmicks are thematic rather than ironclad. That was also a problem in Gen IV with Flint's team for DP.

>>16706253 I dislike this "tunnel vision" logic around team being exclusively weak to talonflame. Facts are facts - if your team is made up of slow pokemon that are weak to fire and flying, then any fast fire and flying type will wreck you, regardless of gay wings.
Staraptor, for instance - it hurts cradily and ferro.
>but talonflame beats ferro easily because of fire attakcs Talonflame has an edge over the raptor by nature of it's flying STAB, but Staraptor has CC to deal with rocks talon can't touch. They both have advantages and disadvantages.
Instead of thinking "x is talonflame weak" think "x is weak to fast flying types, etc". Unless you're running a fast and frail sweeper which can otherwise OUTSPEED AND OHKO talonflame without gale wings, then don't bitch - you were going to lose that fight anyway.

My point is, being not able to do things is a blessing in disguise. I'm having fun with luna, and would never have discovered it without going mono-rock.
When people run into walls like "oh talonflame wrecks my team" i feel like they should take a moment and consider all options they have.
Mega lucario wrecks my team, for instance, but I've just gotta leave no
rock unturned 'till I find a suitable check, then I have to play intelligently and keep it alive and make good use of it etc..

Settling for 3~4IVs is fine. Just make sure key stats are maxed.
Don't be afraid to start a new breeding project - you can typically produce a 3~4IV within half a couple of hours.
Remember to make requests on Wifi General when it's most busy - you'll be sure to find someone to get you started, perhaps with a 4IV or a pokemon you're breeding that might have the wrong nature (where you can breed with a right natured ditto for hopefully a 2~3 IV baby).
Just apply yourself and you'll get it done.

5. Encouter Chanseys, Thief the ones with Lucky Egg.
5. Put Lucky Eggs on every Poke to be leveled.
6. Go to restaurant Le Wow, choose Rotation battle, use Exp O Power Lv3.
7. Put your Lv100 Greninja at front of party, 2 most important Poke to be leveled on the side, and the other leveling Pokes in the party, they all should have Lucky Eggs now.
8. Sweep the restaurant.
9. The two side in-battle Pokes gain 100% boosted exp, the party pokes gain 50%.
10. Do another 2-3 runs.
11. Your Pokes are all level 60 now.

By your logic, since the gurdurr knows focus punch, assist should call sleep powder.
The ONLY possible situation where your 100% idea would work is if the rest of your team's entire moveset is moves assist won't call, which means your entire team can be undone by a bajillion different counters. All for the 100% chance to maybe sleep a single enemy on the first turn.
