Have you seen his movepool? You'd be surprised at what he doesn't get.
Did you know he didn't have a move to hit ghosts or darks supereffective until platinum, when they gave him payback? But with slow start, payback generally has 100 base power while it's active and 50 when it's not.
Drain punch is literally his only hp-restoring move. Naturally, slow start fucks this over by making it heal half as much as you'd want it to when you need it most.
Regigigas's defenses are gloriously high... but actually pretty average when you consider that he has no resistances and no healing. Average is not what you want for something that needs to last 5 turns.
Regigigas's most reliable strategy for stalling out slow start is parafusion. For 5 turns. Afterwhich, you'll only have two slots left for attacks. Even with base 160 attack and 100 speed, most good sweepers accomplish more because they can have three attacks and one stat-boosting move.
Regigigas's best stat boosting move is rock polish. It's also his only stat boosting move outside the horribly unreliable ancient power.
While slow start is active, regigigas's base 80 special attack is actually higher than his base 160 attack, unless you have an adamant nature. This means he's more reliable as a bulky special attacker of average power. Though his movepool can't support that very well.
His only defensive option is substitute. This would actually be kind of nice if he had a way to heal himself. As it stands, safeguard is arguably better because you won't have to reuse it for 5 turns and can spend the time doing other things, like middling amounts of damage.
Regigigas's best physical offensive options are return, earthquake, and stone edge. While these are pretty good, it does make him very, very predictable. The only guessing game your opponent needs to play is which one you aren't using because you spent two (or three) moveslots on stalling out slow start.
So.
