What is war like in Pokemon?

If it wasn't already, war has been confirmed by X/Y's lore; along with the apparent use of pokemon.

How are wars fought? Between regions?

Are there guns?

What pokemons are most military capable?

Keep in mind the Kalos war was 3000 years ago. Guns didn't even exist, everything was more medieval-ish. So Pokemon wore armors and stuff, although I think they replaced weapons (and I think this is currently the case, why have a gun if my Rhyhorn can destroy a whole town with just an Earthquake?)

And they're much more massive, as you can see Pokemon armies. A Pokemon battle is more controlled and the battlers don't intend to kill each other, it's more of a sport than anything.

That's what I always thought. Considering a Gym Trainer mentions that he used his Pokemon to power airplanes, I think he'd be ex-USAF. Then again, how many electric airplanes did the USAF have back in '91? Oh well, Pokemon logic.

When you take technology in to consideration, how did they capture pokemon? What pokemon were they able to capture, if any? Could they only domesticate the smaller/weaker species of pokemon?

FTFY. Grimdark+Pokemon movie=angry genwunners and "concerned parents"=financial flop. It's better that they keep it in sorta-subtle small doses, and let other franchises handle the heavy stuff.
