I don't get why Thundetbolt and Ice Beam are preferred over Thunder and Blizzard but Fire Blast is preferred over Flamethrower.

My face when I always choose reliability over power. Flamethrower / Thunderbolt / Ice Beam / Surf / Rock Slide master race reporting in. I can't help but laugh every time when I win solely because the opponent's Focus Miss misses three times in a row.

Still, focus blast is needed despite its unreliability.
Most special attackers just simply don't have the movepools to break away from focus blast.
Hell, fucking Rampardos has a bigger special movepool than most special attackers.

Meanwhile, physical attackers get bullshit like close combat and edgequake

They need to re-work the accuracy mechanics. Losing a match because your Ice Fang missed twice in a row and your opponent gets a critical Focus Blast is fucking horse shit.

Maybe they should make it so accuracy reflects the odds of doing /full/ damage. Like 80% acc = 80% chance of dealing full damage, 15% chance of dealing half damage, 5% chance of dealing one quarter damage, or something in that vein. Yeah it would still cost you pretty dearly to "miss", but at least not as badly as outright doing 0 damage in a turn.

Or at least boost the accuracy of a move by 15% if it missed and is used consecutively (then reset its accuracy when it hits)? Would avoid bullshit like Fire Blast or Stone Edge missing twice in a row.
