>>16691537>>16691577Poison is not at all a problem considering that Antidotes are cheap, easy to find (Viridian Forest gives you three of them), you eventually get Revives, and worst comes to worst, you can just walk back to the PC and heal for free. Nothing can you stop from doing that, since you can run from wild encounters and if you're backtracking, you've already defeated the trainers. Any half-competent player will never experience a white out.
It's funny you mention RBY because those are only slightly harder than XY. The AI in those games were shit. I've managed to take down the Elite Four with a team that was 20 levels underleveled, with no items in-battle and battle style set.
I do agree there's been a decrease in difficulty but it doesn't really matter. Pokemon was never a game you played because you wanted to be challenged. I'm not even sure what competitive battling had to do with single-player getting easier.
