Why is stealth rock not banned. I'm not even a charizard fag or anything. I feel like every excuse for every ban can be applied to stealth rock.

It doesn't sweep teams. It just deals chip damage, and is only a major factor if you're constantly switching.

There's also Rapid Spin and Defog to counter it.

They tried a separate OU where Stealth Rock was banned last gen. It got positive results. Look for it to come back again.

Anyways, with more ways than ever to get your Rocks off your field, now isn't the time to complain about it. It likely won't be as overcentralizing this gen.

Because there are plenty of ways to counter it

every time smogon experiments with how the meta would go without SR the following happens:
dragonite, volcarona, salamence become prime banning material
yanmega jumps up to UU/OU
Gyarados becomes more prevalent than ever
charizard's megas would probably be banned by them this gen
talonflame would be banned

Pretty much the reason for banning a lot of things even though they aren't completely broken is because they "Centralise the meta" the fact tiers of stuff change when SR alone is removed just goes to prove that it centralises the meta. Smogonfags don't realise the hypocrisy of this though.

Because unless your team is entirely Charizard/Volcarona/Butterfree then Rocks damage really isn't that huge an issue. 12% is minimal but deters constant switching, so every match doesn't turn into an endless fucking stall war. I've been in matches where neither side had entry hazards that have gone upwards of 400 turns because there is no punishment for continuous switching.

Oh and there was an SR-less meta last gen. Guess what? It was identical to regular OU, but with more Dragonite/Volcarona/Moltres.

1. That combo doesn't work in Gen 6. Neither does the set with Liepard.

2. In order for the strategy to work, Riolu cannot have taken any prior damage. How do you do that? By keeping hazards off the field. If your opponent can do it, you can too.

It's a lesser of two evils. If you ban Stealth Rock it centralises the meta around the Pokemon that were previously held back by their weakness as >>16696694 explains.

Therer were talks of suspecting U-Turn near the end of Gen 5 though as it is easy to conclude that a very hyper offensive meta revolving around VoltTurning is what made Rocks so prevalent but since so many people with influence got their influence through abusing VoltTurn (or just really like it, like I do) the suspect testing never saw the light of day. Maybe in the future U-Turn might be suspected and Rocks would become even more uncommon than they already are seeing as Defog kind of ruined it.

I run togekiss for paraflinch hax especially now that its not hurt by dragon.
