>>16702236>we still have complete control over every byte on the Gen V sideThat's correct. Every aspect on the pokémon's data structure is controlled.
But what if they don't locate cheaters by their pokémon's data, but through their game data?
Imagine - Each game cartridge in gen V was unique, and every pokémon transfer made online went through Nintendo WiFi. If they monitored those transfers and trades, they could easily detect sources of hacked pokémon and block every game catridge that received them from transfering those to pokébank.
>but if they knew it they'd block fake pokémon from the competitions! Not really. They could have known it too late or maybe they postponed that filtering because the hacked pokémon were already out there in the games and stopping them now would cause a huge shitstorm. Perhaps the best option for them was blocking the hacked mons from going further from gen V.
>but that's insane, how would they track down pokegenEveryone knew about that site. Do you actually think they would ignore it and just say "fuck it, let them cheat, and now let them cheat in XY too"? That's not how stuff works.
>no way, it's impossible to track down every transferDon't be so sure. Remember Game Sync? Literally register every aspect of your game in their database? Also your online trades go through their network, so they can see where it's going to and where it's from. It's simple, actually.
Believe me, it's definetely possible. Will they do it? Maybe, probably not, but it can happen.
