95 attack is doodoo for an Uber, Florges and Sylveon are pretty much the same fucking pokemon and Gardevoir is Gardevoir

On paper fairy appears very overpowered, sporting some of the best offensive and defensive type matchups in the game. In practice however, dragon fell just a bit but fairies hardly dominate the top usage stats, which is what the type was intended to do.

Xerneas however, is a monster in ubers and will redefine the metagame at that tier.

Fairy is one of those types that are great as STABs but not so much as coverage, much like dragon.
Keeping that in mind, this move has excellent distribution. Pretty much every specially-oriented fairy type except Togekiss (probably because GF didn't want to give it a 95 BP STAB with a 30% sp.atk drop to something with Serene Grace) and Slurpuff gets it.
And yes, It's really unfair compared to the other special moves. It should have been 90 BP, 10% chance of sp.atk drop.

Now they can do so much less with it, like justifiably giving it a mega evolution or anything to make it competitively viable (Light Ball sucks because it's still to slow and gets killed, and the stat increase doesn't make it any good either)

It will never be used competitively and there's nothing Game Freak can do about it.

Xerneas survives Scizor's Choice Band Bullet Punch and destroys it with HP Fire.
Psyshock and Moonblast destroy everything else.
There is a reason Power Herb+Geomancy is being considered for a ban in ubers.

Moody got banned from ubers because it was broken for that tier.
Double Team and Minimize were unbanned there because they were acceptable.
So yeah, bans can still happen in ubers. If Xerneas keeps its 50%+ usage you can bet some kind of action will be taken.

It needs to get Levitate and Wonder Guard at the same time to make it work.
Or like base 181 Speed + decent SpA.

...that's the exact definition of Mary Sue.
Gengar got buffed beyond belief because it's Sugimori's favorite pokemon.
Pikachu is the pokemon mascot because it's overall GF's favorite pokemon and it WILL get some sort of special treatment sooner or later.

Being the mascot or the favourite doesn't mean that is a self-insertion in the story. Is a common mistake to mix up "popular overpowered characters" with "mary sue", these are two different things.
An overpowered character is not imperatively a wish-fullfilling thing and is not necessarily a bad character. While creating a Mary Sue is generally considered bad writing (with few exceptions), an overpowered character may have a meaning in the story.

Xerneas is not going to get banned. It's a dumb debate, Ubers is a banlist.

There are metagame wide clauses like Moody, yes, but not specific pokemon and definitely not specific strategies.

It doesn't matter how broken or centralizing it is, it's not going to get banned from Ubers, which is a banlist first and a tier second.
