Mega Evolutions are a disaster, and the one who created them was a retard.
>Absolutely Broken, OP, unnecesary, spiky and mostly overdesigned.
They destroyed the metagame, Mega Chicken banned right away, Mega Gengar banned right away, mega Kanga going to get GG soon and Charizard is next.

Why not make them just nomal evos with balanced stats ie, Mega Abosmanow just the second stage of Abomasnow, Mega manectric just Manectric evo, Houndoom, Mawyle, Lucario... and non-OP alternate forms, ie: Mega Charizard X just a form that swaps Charizard's SpA and Atk + tough claws, the same for Mega Mewtwo X.

Mega Evos are great OP. Sure, some are as strong as legendaries, but we already had legendaries so I don't see the problem there.

I like the idea of choosing one Pokemon to be your mega in your team. It's pretty good. I think it will only get better once we get more megas in future games/generations.

This would kill the ingame lore where only 88% or so of Pokemon are supposed to have an evo, this was stated in DPPt.

It was stated more 88% of pokemon are related by evolution, this was completely debunked one gen later. It was also stated that there were only 151 pok?mon. There was also a period in time when Clefable got the shit beat out of it by Machamp, but now it resists every punch. Pokemon and lore consistency do not go hand in hand.

I just have no idea how they determined which pokemon get megas and which don't. It seems like popularity played a role with some, but others make it seem like they just flipped a coin.

Sucks. Then again that's how it's always been for me, my favorites are mostly NU/UU tier and it's hard as hell to make them successful in a team.

Impossible. I love Charizard but he's nowhere near broken. You even have to "sacrifice" your mega slot to use him instead of a better mega. He's just viable now.

If they ever ban another, Lucario's the next to go after Kanga. Anything after that will be fine in OU.

Honestly this is one of the reasons I never played the game past the elite 4. I just couldn't get into the mega evolution thing. My favourite Pokemon didn't get evolutions anyways. Maybe when Bank comes out I'll hunt for them, but since I dno't play competitively I won't use them so I probably won't give a shit about it.

Disregard the pic, I actually agree with you that Megas are absolute shit. Worst thing ever brought into the series, they only exist to appeal to twelve year old kids and the edgiest of edgy. Although if you wanted any reaction other than shitposting you should have worded it more politely.

That's only "if they ever ban another." He's the strongest Mega to remain after the others get banned so he'll be next in line for suspect testing (if they ever do another), not Charizard.

I think Lucario's fine in OU. It's just that personally and with a min-max mindset, I don't see a reason to use another mega other than him as long as he's allowed. So if he does go away, I can see myself using the next tier of megas who I think are pretty close in viability (Pinsir, both Charizards, Venusaur, Scizor, Gyarados).

Just my opinion obviously. I also haven't tried M-Tyranitar yet so I can't judge him.

Firstly, Blaziken was always banned from OU, nothing has changed. Secondly, Megas are here to give a second chance to some unpopular mons in competative battles without having to evolve them, which gives me the option to enjoy having a Mawile in my team knowing she will always have her cute form outside of battle and yet be usefull more then ever in-battle. Besides, If all megas were regular evos, It wouldn't be restricted to only one mega per team, which will make the meta even more broken.

It was likely a mix of what mons got/get fan hype and if their design is friendly towards mega evos. Competitively, I have no fucking clue why they thought Mewtwo needed a stat boost to its already gargantuan based stats.
