Game Freak has decided to become a user-friendly business, so they hire you. As an avid and knowledgeable player, your new task is to take one already existing mechanic (as of Pokémon XY) and completely revamp it from scratch.

Base Stats. I understand not every mon can be expected to have similar stats or mirror each other out, but nerfing some mons while giving others an extra oomph might be a great idea.

For example, give Farfetch'd a BST of 60/100/60/55/65/90, while degrading the likes of Garchomp to a more reasonable 100/135/90/85/80/100.

I wouldnt remove them but i would make it very simple to get max iv pokemon. Either having some ability that shares ivs on caught pokemon or just editing them yourself with some kind of in game machine. Everyone can get 5 IV pokemon now it not hard just a long tedious process that shoudlnt be part of the game

Add utility slots so that you can have your Pokemon know the HM but not have it usable in battle or something. Also get rid of IVs (Natures do their job), rework hidden power, and let Ice resist water, next Pseudo is not a dragon.

IVs. Trash stat differences and Hidden Power type calculations entirely. To make Pokemon individual, they are given aesthetic differences only (implement a code that scales Pokemon by a certain percentage depending on their IVs, and changes their color saturation/hue slightly by a certain percentage depending on their IVs). This way each Pokemon looks slightly different in terms of color and size.

Since Hidden Power is no longer decided by IVs, they are simply randomized, like natures. Holding a certain Arceus plate while breeding ensures that the parent's Hidden Power passes on to the baby. And each Pokemon is given a second characteristic blurb that gives you a hint at what Hidden Power it has (e.g. if a Pokemon has Hidden Power Grass, it will say that the Pokemon likes rolling around in grass)

Got that wrong. Even if it has a pre-set Base Power, it has been already confirmed numerous times that the type-determining formula still applies, and it's the exact same formula we've had since Ruby and Sapphire.

The only people who would want IVs to stay are the ones who like beating up on casuals who can't into it.

Make some Mega Evolutions [Absol, Medicham, Mawile, Manectric, etc] actual evolutions with some BST and Ability tweaking.

Instead of popular and already powerful Pokemon like Garchomp, TTar, Lati@s, Mewtwo and Charizard getting two, give some more useless mons those Megas. Beedrill, Raichu, Leavanny, Seaking, Lilligant, Tropius, Luxray, just some examples ones that could benefit more from the boost.

Mega Evolving no longer has priority and instead goes off the regular turn order. It doesn't take up the turn though. If a Pokemon hasn't Mega Evolved yet, their Mega Stone can be stolen, tricked, Knocked Off, and whatnot.

Magic Room now prevents Mega Evolving and forcibly reverts a Pokemon back to its normal state, but now only lasts 3 turns.

Zygarde's Aura Break ability now prevents Mega Evolution as long as its on the field, and also suppresses Teravolt, Turboblaze, Intimidate, and Pressure.

That last bit is kind of stupid but I just really like Zygarde.

I don't know if it's so much a "mechanic," but I would revamp the GTS so that it's not as bullshit to find the Pokemon you want at a reasonable trade.

While the initial trader won't receive their Level 1 Yvetal, the listing makes it annoying for other people who are legitimately looking for reasonable trades.

Displaying stats may "defeat" the purpose of the GTS, but since people list descriptions of what IVs and abilities a Pokemon may have, it would only make sense to curb dishonesty and prevent fraud, by displaying them. If not the abilities, then at least the IVs should be listed as "Can't be beat" or whatever phrases the IV checker lists. Listing if a Pokemon has Pokerus would also be good.

Exactly what it says. It doesn't mean block regions, but rather organize them.

That's really all I can think of unless someone else knows a glaring flaw of the GTS I forgot about.

Speed and Priority.

SPEED is divided into two stats: REACT and SPEED. REACT is of course reaction time while SPEED is the actual maximum speed of the Pokemon.

A pokemon will use their REACT stat to calculate speed on the first turn they are sent out, while the second turn is calculated using the average of the REACT and SPEED stats, and the third turn and beyond are calculated only using the SPEED stat. This lets us rectify those ridiculous Pokedex entries regarding a Pokemon's speed (see Excavelier), while making battles a little more interesting. Constant switching and battle momentum will be more interesting to maintain, while opening up more strategy for Trainers to use.

Each successive priority bracket higher simply increases the Speed calculated on that turn for that pokemon by 1.5x. So Ice Shard will nab you a cool 1.5x speed while ExtremeSpeed will net you 2.25x.

How do you guys like it? Any complaints?

HM moves now normal TMs
They are also rebalanced.
Fly now has skydrops mechanic and 120BP
Cut is now a steel type move with 60 Bp and raises attack by 1 stage.
Rock smash is 60 Bp and always drops opponents defense.
Strenght is now a Rock type move with a flinch chance.
Flash is renamed to ''Flash step'' an electric type physical priority move with 60 BP.
Rock climb is a ground type move with 90 Acc and 120 Bp.
Dive now ignores subs and protecting moves + BP is 90.

Hidden power can now be chosen manually.
You can give the breeders berries to manipulate the IVs of the eggs.
Create the Hidden abillity capsule so you can change the abillity like you should have been able to anyway.
Speed and priority now affect each other as well: priority is now used as multiplyer to speed so a extremespeed linoone with base 100 speed is 15 points faster than 95 base speed arcanine with extremespeed.

Fighting helps out hatching eggs.
The highest the level of the opponent, the more steps acquired.
This doesn't include battle facilities, but trainers with high leveled rosters aren't lacking since gen 3.

I'd give shiny hatching/encounter rates a boost similar to critical captures, where the more shiny pokemon of different species you have registered in your pokedex, the more likely you are to find or hatch one. After you get the national dex, you get the shiny charm which increases your chances yet again, giving you the ability to find a shiny pokemon in say, one in every 8-900 hatches or encounters. This doesn't modify as well with the alternative methods of finding shinies, such as chaining or consecutive fishing. Those methods go up one (for fishing) or 3 (for chaining) for every 900. So, say you're on your 40th chain, you have a 1/780 chance of a shiny mon, and if you have 67 consecutive fishes, your chances increase to 1/833. Fish chaining would have to have a limit set though, probably being set to a 1/450 maximum chance.

Don't know if someone has already said this by now, but rather than having HMs as an an item/TM, just make them inherent 'abilities' of Pokemon.

i.e. Scyther can cut down trees, Lapras can surf, Chandelure can light up caves like Flash (yes I know flash isn't a HM, but I'm just using the example to make a point).

It has the bonus basically not having to catch a HM trash slave to negotiate the more bastardly routes, but also depending on your team you might legitimately not have to catch an Pokemon just to get past an area.
