If we rightfully disregard Unova in the canon, there is no reason why Ash can't be around 12 at this point. It's been about 800 episodes, if each ep is one day give or take then it adds up. He also looks and acts just slightly more mature and much more confident, and they're starting to explore adolescent romance. Seems just right to me.

I would have said Contestshipping was the closest thing we've had to something canon...but even that wasn't outright stated.

Now with this shit they're doing with Ash/Serena, I.e prompting the shit in virtually everything (posters, bios, and now a chart), childhood connnection and episodes..it could be the next in line to be heavily implied yet never go anywhere.

What I'm hoping for is they will keep 'hinting' at this leaving Ash oblivious and Serena will travel with him for the next battle frontier/delacora island saga and then region, and after that hopefully retire his character and close it off with Serena
