HP type is randomly selected when a pokemon hatches/is found in the wild/etc.
But they introduce an item called "Power Crystal," which is a somewhat rare/expensive item that lets you choose what type you want it. It'd be rarer than a Heart Scale, but you wouldn't have to grind for three days just to find one.
