I'm not really big on the competitive scene. I can understand Talonflame and Aegislash. What makes Rotom-W useful compared to the other Rotom formes?

I think water typeing gives it the most useful resists and less common weaknesses, as well as the best STABs.

In general, is a bulky, fast, strong attacker that can switch out to a counter with Volt Switch. Amazing typing: Is only weak to Ground and Grass. Levitates, so it's only weak to Grass at all. There are not many grass pokes in the OU this gen.

Learns other useful things like Trick and Will-O-Wisp.

Counters Talonflame, can fuck Aegislash with Trick and/or Will-O-Wisp.

It has STAB Water-type and Electric-type and
despite the dual typing it has Levitate which gives an immunity to one the most common types in the metagame movewise.
On top of that it only has one weakness, Grass, which isn't an all to common type really, so it has really little to worry about. It also has a bulky stat spread which can be a bitch to take down, especially when he has burned you with Scald.

I'm pretty sure my Rotom only learned Hydro Pump when becoming a washer and that should have nothing to do with Smogon.

But on the switch in, any electric move takes normal Gyarados down.

Good STABs
Good stats all-round; not exceptional in any, but decently offensive, decently bulky and decently fast.
Only weak to Grass, which isn't a very good type competitively, and thus uncommon.
Decent support movepool, including WoW, Destiny Bond, Pain Split and Trick (commonly run with Choice items)

Like most OU As Fuck Pokémon, it's a very good jack of all trades, rather than a master of one like, Haxorus, Blissey etc.

Currently I run Volts Witch, Trick, W-o-W and Hydro Pump, but the pokemon I hate the most is Gliscor and I have 0 other ice moves in my team.

I can still deal with him Tricking specs (and getting toxed) or burning him before he can intoxicate himself, but life would be certainly easier if I had HP Ice. Not to mention raping with 100% accuracy all those Garchomps that love switching into my Electric moves.
