One of the things i thought was dumb in gen 5 was the plethora of legendaries. Like the almost identical 3 genies and formes, but now with only 3 (obtainanle) i kinda miss them.
Along with the legendaries, a post game is greatly missed

Black City/ White Forest - I liked it loads, and it's a feature that would have done so much better on the 3DS too. I mean I was able to collect people from my friends but yeah, I'm sure it was quite limited for most people

Olympia's would probably have a SPAAAAAAACE kind of sound, maybe some synthesized soundscape or something.

Wulfric's would probably be strings or something, with an added wind sound effect. Viola's would probably overdose on insect and camera sound effects. Grant's theme would have some adventurous mountain feel to it. Korrina's would probably be some rock thing like you'd hear at a roller derby or something. Ramos's would be a quiet, pleasant theme.

I know a lot of people didn't like Cheren/Bianca, but I thought they were the most interesting rivals we have had so far. And although Hugh wasn't fantastic, he was at least interesting on a basic level.

The whole lot of Gen 6's rivals are bland as can be. The best that can be said for them is that Serena and Shauna are cute.

In a bizzare coincidence, Entralink, the Nimbasa City amusement park, peninsular shape and even the bridges lined with Shanghai as well.

The fact that Tepig was based on a Chinese mythological figure and Braviary's similarity to a chinese eagle just added fuel to that fire.

It was bad enough that up to the point that the creators stated New York that some posters were compromising by calling the place 'Shanghattan'

I said similarity - not that it was based.

Someone posted a pic that I can't be arsed to find but it had a crest and brightly colored feathers. Given that the eagle that one associates with the America is the bald eagle and not any sort of crested one, one can see why they made that argument.

Personally I think that it is meant to be an native american eagle - given the headdress-looking crest it got. It ending up looking similar to that Chinese eagle was like all the other examples - a coincidence

I've been replaying Gen 5 recently to get all the legendaries I missed and holy shit I miss how much characterization your rivals get right off the bat. Cheren won't stop looking at things analytically, while Bianca as sincere as can be.

I almost teared up like 5 minutes into the game when you're about to leave town and Bianca stops you and Cheren because you're going on a journey together and she wants to make it special by having all 3 of you take your first step onto Route 1 together.

And then you do. It only took Black 5-10 minutes to have as much characterization and development as your friends get in the entirety of X and Y. There's still the rest of the game to go through after that.

Turn the text speed up then shitlord. The text is almost instantaneous at max speed and you can mash through that shit if you really don't want to check it out.

Also fucking details. When you first meet N Cheren says that he talks too fast, and N talks at 1 speed faster than whatever you currently have text speed to. With the speed on max his shit comes out all at once, which is a neat detail.

For once they had a whole lot of effort put into their stories and lore and it makes them so much more interesting as characters. I was super pissed when I saw that absolutely no effort was put into Xerneas or Yveltal as characters in their own fucking game, and it better be something they fix in Z.

The linear complaint is something I don't even fucking get. Every Pokemon game is linear. It doesn't matter how jagged or backtracking the route is, every other game is just as linear.

Then there's the idiots who try to argue that you could skip gym leaders in RBY or RSE which, while true, still doesn't mean the game is non-linear. You're required to do that shit to get to the end anyway, and the game didn't adapt to your decisions like an actually non-linear game would. Skipping something because the game wasn't smart enough to stop you isn't non-linearity. It's sequence breaking.

Actually, a lot of Gen 6 stuff seems to be based on Gen 5 stuff that went over well with the fanbase.

If the game is aware of your actions and adapts to it, then it succeeds at being non-linear, because you truly do have the freedom to do what you want.

But they don't, and again, you're required to do them all to finish the game. Whereas in Super Metroid, if you've got the skill to skip large sections of the game early, there's nothing stopping you from doing the game like you want.

I thought I was going to love Gen V. I WANTED to love Gen V. N was, and is, one of the coolest characters the games have had thus far.

But Gen V just...fell flat for me. It didn't capture my interest; I got bored about midway through and stopped just because it felt, overall, uncompelling. Most of the mons they introduced were passable at best, the overall feel was meh...I dunno mang. I'm not saying Gen V was objectively bad; I can see why people like it. But trying to play Gen V almost convinced me I had finally outgrown Pokemon.

I also miss that massive crash sound when you send out a really heavy Pokemon. It's not the same in Gen 6. I'm hoping the next Gen 6 game builds up on the groundwork XY set. I already love XY though.

Gens 5 and 6 even so far are amazing. I hope they keep it up. I'm loving the recent trend of having a SHIT TON of Pokemon to choose from in each game.

A world of Yes to this. It was really awesome when they charged in to stop the Seven Sages. They were involved in making sure the region was safe, and did not wall themselves in their own gyms.

But I found out that if you try to start a new game without deleting the old save, that's as far as you can get, since you do a movie to proceed, and you need to save to finish the movie.

I think Wulfric was the only passable Gym Leader in X and Y. I can see an argument for Korrina, but I didn't like her much. Any other Gym Leader does literally nothing, and you'd only like for design / gym related reasons.

Made a mistake. You'd still need to do Misty, but if you have a Pokemon with Cut you can skip Surge and go into Rock Tunnel. Go through it without Flash and you'll wind up at Lavender. From there it's a simple bike ride + mew glitch to skip the Snorlax and get into Fuschia.
