So, Megas. Why didn't they just take all the MID evolutions, like Charmeleon, Golbat, shit like that, and give THEM Megas? They'd have a reason to exist, they'd have an alternate evolutionary path and they'd make a lot more sense than strapping a nuke to Blaziken.

You would have to keep an everstone on your pokemon at all times and if you were a casual who plays with pokemon they caught on their "journey" they would eventually find out that their charizard can no longer mega evolve if they didn't google it before hand.

You don't need an everstone as well, you can just press B.
Though catering to muh charizard and muh mewtwo is correct

I'd be fine with it if they made a mega form for Gothorita and it had more than 100 extra BST. It makes a lot more sense to give megas to pokemon who don't already define the game than to ones who dominate the higher levels.

I think the stones are the souls and powers of the Pokemon who died from the Ultimate Weapon AZ used 3000 years ago, so Megas are pretty much double Pokemon.

If anything giving two mega stones like charizard is a better idea because it has less problems and still provides "options"

They might as well have just made legit split evos, then. I think they made it this way so it would not count in the amount of pokemon added to the dex. Otherwise, you indeed have the problem of preventing evolution. Also, this was supposed to be "beyond normal evolution". I think allowing a lesser form would defeat the purpose there. If you want to argue that, then you just hate Megas altogether and it's pointless to argue.

If you're going to argue that, then I think the entire idea is arbitrary and every final evo or standalone should've had a Mega. The only real reason is that they weren't able to make that many.
