Not only designs such as Klink, but also fusions (Kyurem formes) and now mega evolutions.
Can't we all just agree that they took inspiration from each other?

Except Digimon didn't take inspiration from Pokemon, it was an outright rip-off.
Though you're right that Pokemon has been returning the favor lately.

There are 721 Pokemon, and much, MUCH more Digimon. Some designs will look similar.

That depends on if the evolution from tamagotchi to battling monsters was natural. There is no real evidence for it. True, Digimon was created as a tamagotchi line for older kids, but was battling always a part of that?

It might have. It was created as a Tamagotchi spin-off to appeal to boys more. The first Tamagotchi was released in Japan the same year as Pokémon.

Would Digimon have been as successful without the Pokémon audience? Probably not, I suspect it would have been assimilated into the Tamagotchi franchise.

I think we need to remember that neither invented collectable monsters you can use to fight. So, yes, I will say that it would have fully existed without Pokemon, as the idea is older than both of them.

The two things are very similar. There's bound to be overlap between ideas.

You could also say that Pokemon probably borrowed an idea or two from Dragon Warrior Monsters as well.

Not all of them turn into armored or mechanical things. A lot of them do, but not all of them. Also, poopie on Xros Wars for that. This is why I won't bother with it, I think the premise ITSELF is stupid. (and no, DNA digivolution was far more reasonable than this)

More often than not the similarities are because of a common origin, too. Of course a gear Pokemon will look similar to a gear Digimon, it's based off a gear. Would you prefer your gear Pokemon to look like a walrus or something?

also i want permanent dna evolutions. like karrablast/shelmet except it turns into ONE thing.

not necessarily while digimon is pretty much equal to pokemon monster design wise and anime wise (i always used to be let down by how a lot of pokemon battles where simply badly choreographed ) the games seem to be better and have a much larger following

considering those are the core aspects of both franchises its probably the reason pokemon comes out on top (at least in the west, i dont know how popular digimon is over in japan)

I think there's more cause they didn't show all of them in the anime, I remember getting a digimon card booster pack and I got a toy aguman, at the time it wasn't even in the anime, I'm not sure about now though I haven't watched since 3rd season.

I think its still popular, they are making new anime series about it and I'm pretty sure there's an MMO. The only difference are the games, anyone can buy and play Pokemon cause its simple, while digimon is more for an older audience cause it has more RPG elements.

Not really. Most of the games wanted to at least partly stay grounded in it's virtual pets roots. To say it's harder is like saying one genre is harder than another simply because of requiring different skills. I don't think it's harder gameplay wise, but in most cases, getting what you want is harder.
