It may not have been a scripted encounter/gift, but I'd give Gold/Ethan Tyranitar as a reference to how his journey ends on Mt. Silver. Plus, poor Tyranitar never got any love in GSC (should've been Karen's main).

You can assume that after the events of R/B, he made his own choices, and made his own team.

And his team is just a nod to gen one. Pikachu mascot, the three starters, Snorlax, which was an event, and Lapras, which was given to him.

Unless you're a grill, the fact that you listed all of the female protags instead of the male ones shows that you have some pretty fucked up psychosexual development. I think giving each protagonist all starters is boring. Defeats the point and requires little thought. Give more head canon. Get out of your comfort zone and think about what fits. Personally I believe Serena started with Fennekin and Calem a Froakie design wise. Hilbert with Snivy Cheren with Tepig because of strength and Oshawott chose Bianca.

I think Typhlosion fits ethan best. Silver got Feraligatr. Unfortunately, the only way for Lyra to have one is to be the protagonist herself. I want to give her Meganium, and this case gives Silver Typhy.

Also, no one is arguing Blue has a canon team, he could very well have got rid of his Eeveelution because it didn't suit his needs. Remember, Blue was a power-hungry asshole (which is completely canon no matter which version you play), so it makes sense that Blue's want of power led to him boxing his Eeveelution just like he did with his Raticate and the same can be said for Giovanni's Persian, especially so considering his view of pokemon as tools.

Also, Jessie and James alikes would have disbanded with Team Rocket, and may not have been well known enough across the region to be mentioned anywhere else.
