Got a Stealth Rock Larvitar from Wonder Trade. Definitely want to breed it, would rather like a bulk Special tank, and currently lack a stealth rock user.

Can't decide on nature though. Any reason to go with Sassy over Careful? I can't think of any, but I have been known to have The Dumb at times.

Go with Sassy so you can use Fire Blast on opposing Ferrothorn/Forretress leads, or Scizor switch-ins.

Ah, I didn't consider that. I was going for a Crunch/Stone Edge/Stealth Rock/Roar moveset, but Fire Blast does make a lot of sense. Thanks!

I got lucky enough in my first egg batch to get a 31 HP/Att/Def/SpDef Larvitar. :D

I don't know how much use Roar will be, and you might also want to breed Pursuit onto it.

Pursuit seems like a good option on a defensive Ttar... replacing Crunch with it I imagine? I'm very new to all this malarky.

That's what I would do, since you're not running Assault Vest. Also note that running a -Speed nature on Tyranitar doesn't actually mean you should go for 0 Speed IVs, though. IIRC, edging past neutral uninvested Chansey is still important.

Aye, I won't be actively looking for 0 speed, but it's my lowest priority. 6IV mons are a pain to breed, I'm finding. 5IV seem reasonable.

I mainly chose Roar for the reliability factor, since as far as I'm aware it can't miss. But through this advice, I'm revising the set to Pursuit/Stone Edge/Stealth Rock/Fire Blast I think.

Now to find something I can breed Pursuit onto it with...
