>>16762406I don't know if anyone else remembers this, but shortly after smealum released his hack info, some anon made this gigantic post here with a huge (and I thought rather well thought-out) list of "leaked info" regarding more megas to come that included something like Mega-Marshtomp R and S as well as a ton of others, implying that there would be version exclusive megas in the R/S remakes as well.
I honestly don't see how they can't release more megastones in the near future, if for nothing other than the rest of the staters. It's really kind of lop-sided to give the Kanto starters megas, Blaziken and that's it. What about the other Hoenn starters at least? Makes little sense. I really do imagine that when the R/S remakes are released there will be a mandatory patch that will add in more megas for pokemon that will, by that point, be very easily obtainable and will become even more so with the R/S release.
I don't believe we'll get new pokemon at all, unless gamefreak really just buckles under scrutiny about "only 70 new pokemon", but then that raises the issue of them having to create new ones for Z/XY2/Whatever, work them into the game, and then create a patch for X/Y that will include them in the game. This then raises the issue of where they're going to cram them in. Even if they only give us another 20-30, they still have to find a place to encounter them in-game that won't overcrowd particular routes, and at the very least re-edit some trainers teams to include them so they aren't completely under-exposed. Seems like more work than they'd want to put into it, and honestly I don't see the need. 70 this gen was plenty for me. Just give me some more megas for others that deserve it and the R/S remakes and we're good in my book.
