Pretty much all of the other stones besides maybe pinsirite just add more bulk and speed, and are actually weaker than their base forms with a life orb.

What makes them useful over their base is different abilities and typing, meaning weaker pokemon get a new chance at being useful (houndoom, absol, etc) or just get a different play style (scizor, aggron)

Unless your team is literally Charizard/Moltres/Volcarona/Articuno/Ledian/Butterfree they're not even a huge issue. Plenty of teams have done excellently without a spinner or anything. It's only a NECESSITY if you want to use something like Dragonite or Volc.

You know there was a Stealth Rock-less tier last gen? It was fucking identical to regular OU but with more Moltres

I'm kind of there as well. I've been playing on Showdown mostly to test out newer Pokemon (which sucks for the things that got banned I never got to try) and gimmick teams, as I'm more interested in playing on-cartridge this gen.

I feel the same, I don't think evasion is game-breaking anymore, but I also think the benefit of the occasional gimmick strategy allowed by evasion does not outweigh the sheer annoyance a metagame with it would generate. While that is not something you should base your banning on (ban annoying stuff), by now It's more of a relic of the past than basic principle, so I don't really mind it.

I know return is really good on it because I use it personally, but with its speed it has a descent amount of counters. Plus if you get rocks up it can't switch back in if you switch out unless you get rid of rocks first.

I guess the fact that it can be a decent physical, special or mixed attacker is a big bonus, but nothing gamebreaking. The physical set can be easily crippled and the special set is never all that threatening without any proper setup moves. Add to that the general lack of bulk and you have nothing banworthy.

Ferrothorn is pretty damn viable in VGC as well.

Also honestly, at this point where GF is obviously shifting the focus on double battles with the introduction of countless abilities and moves that are effectively useless outside of that format, I don't think it's a big stretch to say that if you want to play singles, Smogon decided the way you should play. I don't love it, but it could be worse and it's just how things are.

Aegislash is really fucking good. Actually, offensive ghost type in general is. Think about it, there are two typings that resist it, one is commonly characterized as having low defenses an the other is considered one of the worst typings available, and the only Gen 5 OU Pokemon with the latter's typing is Blissey. Not to mention that the first, dark, was nerfed this gen with fairy types, and that both typing are weak to fighting. The only Pokemon I saw in Gen 6 OU that resist ghost are Tyranitar, Mandibuzz, Chansey, and Greninja, now that Kangaskhanite is banned.

I'm actually considering making a team that centers around Aegislash and Gengar and dealing with their counters and checks, similar to DragMag but less spammy.

People will keep going to Singles, and to Smogon, because Singles is what they've known the most their whole life. Unless Gamefreak does something to address this mentality by using the games itself as a medium instead of just going "S-Stop playing Singles gaiz, Doubles is more fun! Honest!" like they've always done.

Instead of trying to prune Singles mentality, which is an impossible task, they should just simply adapt and thrown both formats a bone instead of focusing just in Doubles. It's the best of both worlds.

Because then Xatu, Espeon, Alakazam, Cloyster, Magnezone, Politoed, Ninetales, Scizor, Tyranitar, Venusaur, Gothitelle, Wobbuffet, Abomasnow... etc etc would also get special rules that would allow them to be in lower tiers, except with the worst of their two/three abilities. It would just be really obtuse.

The Funbro ban also not a ban that applies to only one Pokemon, but a specific set that multiple Pokemon can use.

Complex banning Turbo on Blaziken would open the door to any kind of stupid things like "Ban Dark Void on Darkrai so it's OU", "Ban Earthquake on Groudon", "Ban X Item on Y Pkmn", etc.

I mean, it's not like Blaze Blaziken would have any impact on the metagame anyway ("m..muhhh favorite") so it's the simplest way to ban what's broken (in most people opinion, since there's always room to disagree on what's done).
