It used to be so goddamn simple. 601+ BST = ban, sans crippling abilities. Now things like Blaze Blaziken are in Ubers while Smogon tries to bring bullshit like Kyurem-B down.

Blaziken, specifically, is in ubers, not just Blaze version.

It's what's called a "complex ban," they don't do bans like "this Pokemon is allowed in OU but it can't use its best ability." Might as well say Kyogre can be OU but it can't use Water Spout.

I can see why they wouldn't want complex bans because that opens up a whole other can of worms, but they should make exceptions for Pokemon in ubers with less than 600 BST. 9 times out of 10 they're only there for one overpowered reason, and could be allowed in lower tiers without it. A lot of people like Blaziken and would like to use a Blaze one in a lower tier. Just adjust the fucking rules that you yourself made and allow it god damn.

I love PokemonShowdown and I generally like Smogon, but fuck they're stupid about some shit.

Or Manectric. Or Gardevoir, Ampharos, Abomasnow, Absol, Blastoise, Banette, Aerodactyl, Gyarados, Alakazam, etc.

Even things like Mawile are not hard to handle.

Two mega pokemon have been truly banned (Blaziken and Mewtwo are ubers anyway.) That's it. It's a massive stretch to think they'll all get banned. "Mega" is as relevant a title as Legendary when it comes to bans.

Don't tell me you would 100% use Rough Skin + Rocky Helmet Garchomp if M-Kanga didn't exist. And if you don't use those Pokemon? A prankster doesn't counter Mega Mom, it's a check.
And a faster fighting type isn't actually enough, you need a faster fighting type with enough bulk to survive a Return/PuP/Crunch/whatever on the switch and a Sucker Punch, possibly boosted.

You guys have to remember that a counter is something that can effectively switch in on the pokemon it's countering and be able to force it out.

Right now, there are almost 0 counters to Mega Mom since lots of stuff can't switch in on her.

It is specific, basically M-Lucario and Terrakion.

The problem also isn't usually fighting M-Kanga when your "counters" are healthy, but when your team is worn down or something else took them out at some point in the match. You and your opponent can both be down to about 2-3 pokemon and their M-Kanga will just sweep your team even if you had the upper hand at that point. It's just bulky enough to survive any time you do hit it and strong enough to KO the rest.

A lot of pokemon CAN obliterate other things, if they get an attack in. M-Kanga is fast, but outsped by a lot, M-Kanga is bulky, but not a wall. A fast sweeper, especially with a super effective hit, can just take her out.

If you're switching into her, then no you won't. If that Pokemon is already fainted or has sustained heavy damage then, no you won't.

I have to ask, if Kanga isn't meant to go to Ubers, then what the hell is? Don't just say the box legendaries and leave it at that, because some things in OU can take them out as well, but like M-Kanga not many things can and if you don't have that specific gimmick/Pokemon/ situation then you're screwed most of the time.

There's a lot that can't switch into a lot. M-Kanga isn't even the most damaging of the new Megas, M-Medicham, M-Mawile, M-Lucario with close combat can all do more damage (assuming neutral hit) to something switching in. Of those, M-Medicham is just as fast, and M-Lucario is even faster.

The scenario can easily be reversed, a boosted M-Garchomp is out, you want Kanga in to take it out but earthquake will take it out if it switches in, gotta sacrifice to get M-Kanga in safely. A lot of battles go down that way if something powerful gets setup like all these scenarios assume. A damn clamperl is capable of tons of damage to anything switching in, that's not a ban-reason at all.

The difference is that Kanga gets that setup without any trouble whatsoever.
M-Kanga comes out and you don't want to sacrifice whatever's currently in. If you have a ghost counter, you're going to eat a crunch that will OHKO anything that isn't Sableye. If not you're going to eat a PuP after which Mega Mom can pretty much sweep.

It's a new Gen, he's not banned.

PuP is rather weak, it's better than swords dance but not a OHKO on most things, especially if it's jolly. Even with jolly, it's not fast enough for any clean sweeping, about a hundred things outspeed it, some of those things outdamage it.

Also another difference between Mega Milf and other setup sweepers is the decent overall bulk, lack of 4x weakness or the immunity to certain other sweeper stops: You can't use a sub, you can't use Sturdy and you can't taunt to stop the setup.
AND on top off that, it has amazing coverage and tons of viable movesets (some of which are completely different and need different counters, like the bulky support Seismic Toss set) with utility shit like Fake Out or Brick Break.

There is just no arguing it, it's too good for OU.

This just came to mind and its sort of off topic, but I imagine Celebi over Free Battles would be a pretty decent partner for Mega Khan. Soaking up status's and acting as support against some of the very few things that Mega khan can't take. Though I guess Mega-Gar can get around it.
