Ash's first mega evo will definitely be Charizard Y (Red already got X), Fletchling is guaranteed to evolve (regional bird) and Froakie is guaranteed not to (water starter curse).
Gogoat seems the most obvious grass type it could get but I'm not sure about Avalugg.
The 6th teamslot will most likely be the repleceable "wild card" just like BW.

I have a feeling Jessie will get Skrelp and Serena will get Espurr->Female Meowstic.

Well Brock's Mudkip evolved so the curse had its holes. Sure it wasn't Ash's but if we're talking patterns Ash always at least one starter that evolves at least once. We might not get Greninja but we're getting Frogadier, there's no doubt about it.

So far Froakie hasn't had the same attention Piplup and Oshawott had. They didn't evolve because they were extremely marketable. Ash's Froakie however is more cool than cute.

The Water curse is a fan observation and not a set in stone formula. Ash catching every starter seemed like a formula until Hoenn had Ash only catch Treecko. The only reason people say Water Starter Curse instead of just Water Curse is because while Corphish and Buizel are Water types Ash has that didn't evolve Kingler still exists.

The fact is Ash always gets at least one cute unevolved Pokémon in his party and usually the cutest thing he owns is his Water type.

Here's my thoughts on the subject at hand. Ash will have a team larger than 6 just like in B/W, but only slightly. The three Mega evolutions are the possible ones for Ash to have, but he's more than likely to have at least one. Charizard and heracross are obvious, and he could get a Lucario like the player does in game.

The three fairies below Clemont rotate and take up his final slot. Though technically his, they are primarily taken care of by Bonnie.

Besides haunter, Ash hasn't had a ghost type ever, right?

And I wish he'd get a dragon type that isn't a freaking gible, I mean it would have been better if it had evolved, just once!

Also, I wonder if Ash will get a fairy type.
