Not to mention the purpose of IVs is pointless with the existence of natures. The only reason to have it is because of Hidden Power which can be reworked.

I hate when I have to run into a buttzillion of LVL4 pokederps just to try and get a rare item. And I hate that sometimes I bring only 1 of the HM slaves I need should it require surf, strength, rocksmash and Flash. Then its time to go back and walk through that shit all over again. Pisses me off moreso when "YOU FOUND A STARPIECE"
As if I fucking need that shit

Right, honestly I have never agreed with the point of HMs, even if in later gens they are not mandatory anymore. But I'd rather have key items that allow to go to certain places, much like the Surfboard that was planned in the Red/Green beta version.

I just started the game! I dont have all these TM's or multiple Pokemon to breed you with to get their egg moves. Why do you have to be useless?

A good way around that is to farm some heartscales off of Luvdisc to get some of the best moves before the E4 (Moonblast on Gardevoir, Flare Blitz on Charizard)

I think the idea behind hms is sound but the actual practice is annoying. Maybe if they reworked it so that you only need a pokemon that can use a certain hm in your party instead of actually taking up a move slot. And also if they streamlined the process of actually using them so you don't have to see a prompt and animation every single time you want to surf or cut down a bush.
