There aren't levels in the anime, the sooner you accept this the easier it'll be to accept that sometimes strategy beats experience.

They actually could have done a lot of good things with the anime. Seriously, even gen 1 was pretty awful, they should have focused the plot around what is happening in the games. For example, red and green stopping team rocket, changing protagonists every new season etc. Right now is just repetitive bullshit.
