So far, I've only gotten 2 shinies. An Audino from the Friend Safari while I was testing a question some Anon had. The other was a Zangoose from when I was hunting for a Taillow to finish my pokedex.

Now? I'm preparing to MM a Froakie. If the fact that it took 12 boxes just to get the 5IV female to start with was a sign, I feel like I'm going to make Combee Guy's struggle look like nothing.

Also, over the past couple days, I got a shiny Charmander for each, with one extra hatched unintentionally in leftover eggs (which made me shit bricks). Sadly, the Y's SpAtk IV is 6, but whatever.

Continuing on with my Vanillite hunt - 21 boxes and 7,700 random encounters and nothing. I'm not even going to use it on my team, I just want to play with it in Amie... I'm wondering how much time I should spend looking for it before cutting my losses.

On the plus side, I found a super adorable shiny Nidoran M when I was sweet scenting hordes elsewhere!

After getting a shiny Pancham patch last weekend and screwing up by walking into the wrong flowers, I FINALLY got my first ever pokeradar shiny in any game today. Chain 39 produced this little bunny dude.

Now I can say I've gotten a shiny in every possible way imaginable; not chaining a shiny had been haunting me since Gen IV.

Well I was going to try and chain Panchams in order to make up for my mistake last week, but instead I'm going to go for MM with 5IV parents because I realized I've never bred a shiny with good IVs before. Just another thing to do on my shiny checklist.

I don't care about the IV's, I just want it shiny. So if you look at pic related, does that mean I open the game at 1:09:27 (3 second delay on the ds-i), don't press any buttons until I see the shooting star, continue my save and then open up my party and listen to chatot's summary page 40 times (because the "shiny frame" is 41 and you start on frame 1, so you need to advance the frame 40 times???)... And the stuff on the left is PIDRNG which applies to nature and stuff that I don't care about?

I was desperate enough to stalk the shiny trade threads for a male espurr but apparently they are in demand. I just want to get on so I can move on to something else, I'm at like 60-65 boxes and I'm starting to dread turning on my game. I tried to hunt for an espurr in the friend safaris nut I had a whole day of nothing. It's frustrating. I've never hunted for a shiny that wasn't a fishing shiny and succeeded. Gts has always been my source. With pokemon bank fast approaching, my main source of legit shinys will likely dwindle.

Do I spend the effort? I've never felt up to doing anything on my own, all my shinys and 5iv mons are from gts and wondertrade.

Its also nice to be back over here, the Gts shiny threads are reduced to shit.

I used to WT them all, but I filled up almost all my empty boxes. I collected one of each gender, and would swap them out if I got one in with better stats. It really helps if I ever need to trade, and I always win at least a PP Up from the Loto, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of PokéMiles I have.

Of course now I only keep the perfects and release the rest.

Tried chaining first, but there's no good spots for phantump, and its rare to find. My max chain was like 15 and it was a scorupi. Then tried friend safari, eventually got bored and started counting, 600+ with no shiny.

it was in a few guides that i've seen online, and I've had my chain break for no other reason I could see. I just don't risk it anymore. Sometimes getting a patch on the border doesn't break your chain either.
