>>16804871Well actually, an iceberg is really not just a chunk of ice. That would imply that all there is to an iceberg is basically frozen water, which is not true. Icebergs are full of minerals, rocks, hell most icebergs have a huge ass boulder on the inside that's frozen over.
So really it's not just ice. Avalugg should technically be Ice/Rock type, or at the very least Ice/Ground, the only reason he's not is because game freak wanted him to be a good pokemon (look at that fucking base defense) and they knew giving him any secondary typing basically just hurts him more, because ice already sucks enough on its own and adding another type literally just adds more weaknesses and no resistances.
Really. Ice can't pair nicely with any type without just gaining a new STAB and a truckload of more weaknesses. And sadly enough, Ice is too shitty of a type to be your only type.
Ice and Steel type might be your first guess for a good potential combo, right? Wrong. It only doubles the weaknesses Ice has now, adds a ground weakness and would probably be based on a dumbass concept like a car frozen in the snow.
What about Ice and Fairy, you might ask? The only thing fairy type does for ice is give it neutral damage from fighting types and a resistance to dark types, a type that ice doesn't worry about to begin with. Oh, and immunity to dragon, which again is pretty stupid for an ice type since ice is supposed to be one of the hard killers to dragon types (despite not resisting dragon type attacks).
And what is gained by the secondary fairy typing for an ice type pokemon? Well, now you are 4x weak to steel, weak to poison types now all of a sudden, and both of your stabs are now resisted by fire types, one of your biggest threats.
Ice/Water is probably the only good combination Ice can be a part of, and that's ONLY because water is such a good fucking type on its own.
I feel bad for Ice-Type fans.
