Anyway, I wouldn't say being a let-down compared to Sinnoh is the only downside. Not by a longshot for me. In my opinion, Ash was at his absolute worst, his traveling companions were the two most boring ones yet, Ash's team was underwhelming besides Krookodile, the League was an absolute joke, Trip was a crappy main rival, and Team Rocket's sudden change felt pointless when they just ended up reverting to the same old joke Team Rocket after a while. The only thing I liked about Unova was the secondary rivals. Bianca, Stephan, Georgia, and Burgundy were cool. Doesn't make up for how shitty Trip was, though.
