There were some parts in wich you could take a detour from your way but doing so usually would have you fighting things that you weren't supposed to meet until way later. Right at the beginning you could go to a beach and have random battles with Coelamon, a weird fish that would kill your entire team with a single blow, and he was so fast that you wouldn't be able to flee. Instant game over.

Then there were some rare encounters in the areas that you were supposed to go, but they would be much stronger than what you could handle. In the area with the Zanbamon boss, you could fight red Musyamon that would let you flee, but trying to fight them at that point would be suicidal.

Then there was the bullshit spewing boss, like High Andromon that had a move that was like a 90% accuracy Horn Drill.

The grindmode was FUCKING REAL.

Fishing gave you some of the most consistent EXP in the game. That, and fighting Numemon and Frigimon did as well, but the fish were better.

I leveled my team killing Coelamon and Dolphmon at the Jungle Oasis. My current team is
