If they don't have anything inherently strong against Klefki, or a good phaser, they pretty much can't beat you unless they get multiple crits. The problem is when you run up against things that can just smash your face in even with reflect up, stuff like earthquake garchamp.

A few days ago someone posted an old replay in the 2000's with Assist+Prankster Liepard. It only picked Roar, Whirlwind and Dragon Tail so the other team couldn't do shit while they were dying to hazards. (Anyone have the replay?)

Paralysis has some merit since it lowers the affected mon's speed to its minimum. So even if you don't get parahax you can at least out speed something that was formerly faster.

Sleep completely stops a mon in its tracks, leaving the player to take a gamble on it waking up or not. It's less luck based than hoping they won't hit you based on evasiveness, but somewhat luck based all the same. At the very least it allows you a couple of free attacks/set-up turns.

tl;dr: A little more thought than praying you don't get hit goes into it. That's why.

I don't think it is fair to consider Klefki's Parafusion set "luck-based" when it has such a high chance of succeeding. Unless of course you consider using Focus Blast and Stone Edge "luck-based strategies."

SwagKey isn't really luck-based if used correctly.

As for Swagger, I think you miss the point of what it really is so I'll say it out loud:

IT'S A PRIORITY SWORDS DANCE FOR KLEFKI.

You do realize how Foul Play works, right?
Against special attackers, i.e. the things SwagKey should face to begin with, it' really plays the same as a physical sweeper that has priority on Swords Dance. As a bonus, it also gives you a 50% chance of a free turn, but even without the hax it would still be useful.

Also don't be an idiot using Swagger on physical attackers if you don't have a Substitute up first.

Against everything else its job is to spread paralysis and force swithces.

In short, SwagKey is a perfectly viable and competitive set, but idiots who don't have a fucking clue how to play it think that blindly spamming Swagger only to backfire in spectacular fashion is the only thing it's good at.

This guy is right. Statistically speaking, Klefki has an excellent chance of taking down one or two Pokémon. You can say the same thing for a setup sweeper relying on Stone Edge or Focus Blast, which will also get rekt 20 or 30 percent of the time due to a miss.

With one of its weaknesses nerfed under rain, able to get dual screens and recover some HP she is the most annoying and greatest support for my team.

Gotta watch out for taunt however, its a shame Klefki can't learn it or trick room.

sableye is better
it can taunt, trick, will-o-wisp, recover, foul play, etc

if you want dual screens or paralysis support, klefki is better
