It has fucking egg in the name. I don't care if it was meant to be seeds, that's probably true since it evolves into a pineapple tree, but the english localization team clearly either did not know or mean't for people to think they were eggs.

The same thing goes for the Stalactite pokemon that looks like it's an ice cream in a cone, with its evolutions having toppings and a straw

They are supposed to be seeds that look like eggs because thematically they are very similar. Seeds grow into trees and eggs hatch into birds. They are both very similar looking to coconuts as well. Exeggutor's line is surprisingly deep and has many inspirations.

However exeggutor which looks like a coconut tree and exeggacute being seeds would make sense except coconut tree seeds are coconuts themselves not egg shaped seeds

the japanese name tamatama is just BallBall so it's kind of ambiguous
