I mean we haven't seen, the genitals of a human character either, and there's other little details that you can say like "how do you know they're breathing oxygen?" (they probably mentioned oxygen at this point though, but you get the point.) It's just if they don't have them, it makes explaining genders that much weirder and you have to headcanon it instead of simply saying they have some kind of genitals.
