I think you should be able to remove mega stones when they're not used. It just makes no sense for Knock Off, Trick, etc. not to work when a not-yet-mega Pokemon switches in.

agree. megastones shouldn't get special treatment as items. it's dumb. they just didn't want people to counter megas so simply.
