It is pretty interesting that they decided to leave it in, even with things like Chain Fishing existing now.

Now I can look forward to even more shiny hunting when I can transfer everything I guess.

You have to complete the National Dex.
Which is possible through Poke Bank in Japan, or a shitton of trading.
