Hey Pokemon folks.

Long story short, I've fallen into a Copy of Pokemon X after having not played since Silver.

I just beat the Elite Four and have several friends who want me to battle them and have far more experience than me.

Thinking of a Team to battle them consisting of Blaziken, Vaporeon, Mawhile, Absol, Gliscor and Ampharos.

Basically using speed boost, Aqua ring, a few boosting moves and baton pass to build up and eventually finish off with Mega Ampharos.

Is this viable at all or like a horrible Idea?

Anything can be viable, if you're good with it.
A few points, though:
-Blaziken is, I believe, Uber, so they might say it's cheap. If you want speed boost and don't want to use blaziken, Ninjask and Scolipede are both viable.
-Baton pass teams, however, can be countered somewhat easily. A prankster with taunt can block baton pass, meaning no boosts.
Mawile is pretty slow, not as good as a lot of other Mons.
Absol is very frail and doesn't have a huge amount of power. Him and Mawile are both better off as megas, so you may want to consider replacing them.
Mega Ampharos is extremely slow. With 45 base speed, it will still have problems with only one speed boost.
Also, it would help if you posted your planned sets.

3.) If your endgame is Ampharos, why have swords dance? It's a special attacker.

Even if they don't realize you're baton passing in the beginning, once you get to the second or third mon they'll see it and fuck it up. It's not worth it, I personally would build a team with pokemon that fill different roles, like walls and sweepers. If you're dead set on this team, get something with rapid spin because stealth rocks will fuck you anally.
