Even Fire Red or Leaf Green is better than RBY. There's no reason what so ever to be playing a gen 1 or gen 2 game when far superior remakes exist.

Let's face it right now. Today, Gen 1 is outdated and sucks. Sure it was revolutionary-ish for its time, but that's it.

OK, fair enough.

It's either the real time clock that needs to be turned on or your save settings aren't set to "automatic" at "flash 64k"

Here's my settings and they work just fine for GBA games. If all else fails you can still play the main game with savestates, it's just the hall of fame won't let you do post game.

Are you using an outdated OS? Last I checked, VBA doesn't work at all on the new versions of OSX.

Then find your .ini file and change it from there.

If there's a setting that says flashSize=131072 then change it to flashSize=65536.
