It's worse at taking status because if you mega you can't change back, so shifting to mega already makes you susceptible to a will-o-wisp.
It's also slower so it can't even beat things like rotom which run just enough to beat base 80s, but not base 85s. Or stuff like Milotic.
The worst blows to it is that isn't not even all that much more bulky. Opponents are going to be using super effective moves on you. With your common weaknesses, you're still not going to be able to take a flare blitz or a brave bird to the face. And then what's even worse is your horrid special defense. You only get 10 more for mega evolving. That's not going to save you from a fire blast, a psychic, a hurricane, or any of the other moves commonly run by pokemon who are, well, outside of NU. Then to add insult to injury, you're put at a speed tier lower than a bunch of pokemon you were basically designed to beat, making you lose to them now. As a Heracross, you would've loved rock blast to kill Chandelure. Now you're slower than it by 5 speed points and you die to a flamethrower before you can do that because you can't sub nearly as well without leftovers recovery. Same thing with Multiscale dragonite. Now he can just outspeed roost you and he's free to take laughable amounts of damage from rock blast when you could kill one before it sets up if you weren't at a speed loss in mega form. Even running bullet seed for Milotic would've been great if it weren't for the fact that now you're slower than it and it can marvel scale rest the fuck up, burn you with scald, and not give a fuck about basically anything you do.
Seriously, you can like Megacross all you want. I really liked its arm-cannon design stuff. But it has basically no redeeming qualities over anything you could use heracross for unless you have some sort of serious problems with Gen 6 swamperts.
