>>16920934I do have it saved any more as it was on my old computer that died about a year back, but I can give a quick summary for each.
>KyogreTakes inspiration from the Hebrew mythos in that it is based on a beast of the sea called Leviathan, which originally meant whale, but can also mean great beast that lives in the sea. As this is a vague term and the creature in question was given very little description, it is based most heavily on the orca.
>GroudonBased on the Behemoth, another ancient, mythical beast which was given very little descriptive passages. It is most likely based on the fact that behemoth has come to mean a gargantuan beast, but, as this still is a loose concept, it is based heavily on dinosaurs like the larger Tyranosaurs, which were, obviously, very large themselves.
>RayquazaThis Pokemon was based on Ziz, a counterpart to the previous two beasts that ruled the sky. Since, again, the Hebrew people left much up to the imagination when describing this creature, Gamefreak based its design on that of a great oriental dragon.
Obviously I went into more detail in the paper, but there's the gist.
>>16920962I was just responding to what was being said. Sorry that I can't cite, but I don't remember what interview, what nintendo direct, or what magazine it was in.
>>16920982You're on a JP culture board in a thread where people are talking about name origins. Look around you. Most people here are otaku to some extent.
>>16920999Thanks. Trips confirm.
