Do people here still RNG abuse?
I just RNGd my first Pokemon in Black 2. It felt good when I finally got it

I'd contribute OP, but people here suck. Breeders are mostly quiet but the genners are the loudest minority I've ever seen. If you RNG they immediately become jealous and spiteful and try to convert you to Pokegen and can't accept you want legit Pokemon. Then go all out with the bait and tell you that you're just a hacker too and breeders are hacking by knowing about IVs and it goes on and on.

Just delete the thread and go on Smogon or some shit.

It's actually really easy, all it is is starting up your game at the right time, down to the last second, and advancing frames accordingly.

The hardest part about RNGing (atleast for me) is probably calibrating, but so long as you have decent timing, you should be fine.

Except RNG abuse doesn't "create" anything, unlike hacking.
It's all inherently within the game data, and it's only a matter of getting it at the right time.

Breeding doesn't create data either, all of the spreads were predetermined before you even started up the game.
It's all a dice roll. RNG abuse just loads the die.

IV spreads. Well, at least in the case of breeding, which IVs are passed down is what is predetermined.
That's why there was that exploit early on in XY where you could abuse the fact that you know which IVs from which parent would be passed on to the offspring, and get perfect, or pentaperfect mons as a result without having to constantly roll the dice.

There is nothing being "created" here.

This is is probably the right thread to ask this: what exactly is RNG abusing? I mean, I see people mention RNG multiple times here every day but to be honest I have absolutely no idea what it means. How do you RNG abuse? What happens when you do that? How can you get something like event legendaries w/ good IVs through RNG abusing? I'm not going to try it myself but I'm just genuinely interested and would like to know more.

RNG is Random Number Generator abuse. Basically through data mining people figured out that when you start the game determines the seed which creates a sequence of spreads with different IVs, Nature, Shininess, etc. People can predict these with a program to get completely legitimate Pokemon with perfect IVs, shiny, whatever. There's a learning curve but afterwards it's easy to use.

Thanks for the clarification. To me, however, that still sounds like a pain in the ass. Even if you know what kind of IV spreads the game is going to throw at you next, I'd imagine it being quite uncommon to see pentaperfect shinies. Maybe I just don't get it, which is why I'm going to stick with breeding.

But you're using data that you shouldn't know the manipulate the game into doing what you want and generating a perfect Pokemon that would otherwise be statistically almost impossible to find.

I don't mind cheating to cut corners, I just don't like these shitheads who say it's not cheating as a sort of justification for doing it. Just admit you're cheating because breeding is too tedious, don't try and pretend you're morally justified in doing though.
