The last few days i've been doing little other than play Animal crossing because i'd let my town go to shit ever since Pokemon came out, and i felt bad. I also lost motivation to mm after i took a 20 minute break from mm'ing Sentrets and hatched a shiny Chimchar unintentionally.

If you remember when exactly you last played NL, you can just TT'd to that date and nothing will happen.

Then all you need to do is to TT back slowly to the present date. You won't even lose any villagers from that.

It felt good on the one hand, but like cheating on the other. The shinies you can catch trough fishing are pretty easy to get, it seems.

Never really had luck with shinies otherwise, except for that one shiny Geodude on my emulated Platinum.

I heard that getting a japanese Ditto raises the chance of getting a shiny pokemon from the egg, how true is that?
If it works, would someone mind trading me a JPN Ditto?

Also, I'll finally try to catch a shiny Magikarp this weekend, wish me luck!

It's true. Ditto's the easiest (just deposit one of your FS Dittos on the GTS for another), but any other foreign pokemon (ITA, SPA, FRE, KOR too) will work.

How well it'll work is another story though.

From what she told me, I woke up my gf one night, before telling her I caught her a shiny Cyndaquil via soft-resetting. She took a look at its stats, saved twice and told me "Now, go to sleep". I answered her "I'm already asleep", she awoke me and explained me everything.

Since then, it happened once or twice, with me continuing to shiny hunt (or to simply play) during sleeping. Caught a Pikachu and a Miltank in Heartgold this way, among other things.

Good luck. May I suggest you R15/16 hordes with a poke with Magnet Pull in front of your party (it can be KO) ? It's what works the best for Klefki, and it worked for me, so I think it can work well for you.

If you can, you should always give it IVs in every stat except the one that its nature will already reduce.

Like, when you have a Sp. Attacker, you obviously don't need 31 IVs in Attack since you won't use that anyway.

Just a question: is Yveltal (and xerneas and Zygarde) shiny locked?
If you can avoid stuff like "i don't know, maybe yes, maybe no" and similiar, since i'm right in fron of the legendary, and i'd like to know if i can have a shot at the shiny or if i'm wasting time since it's locked.

I've read on /vp/ that you can get Xerneas and Yveltal as a shiny.
You have to defeat them in the battle, then complete the E4 and afterwards you can apparently SR for them.

No idea if it actually works though.

It's going to be her first (and probably only) attempt at MM, so I want her to get something decent stat wise. Depends entirely on what you want.

If you just want a shiny, chaining is superior. You'll get them much quicker.

If you want good IVs, you're going to need to get two perfect or near perfect IV parents, which takes a long time on its own.

And then you have about a 3/8000 chance of getting a shiny from that, and it'll still only have 5 IVs I think. But that's still better than FS or other methods, stat wise.

Flame Body is a plus, you can get it on the fire bird Pogemen on the first route. You'll also probably want a Japanese ditto for those sweet sweet odds, so you'll need to be able to GTS one, which means probably shelling out a Ditto of your own, which aren't available until the final gym. Or you could just bum one off of someone here, lord knows I have like six foreign Dittos. Then all you need is to make it to the Day Care, which is around the 2nd gym.
