maybe if they implemented some way to up IVs with some sort of minigame that can only be played at level 100 and max EVs or something & change natures like how ability can be changed with ability capsule
this way people can actually use their starter without it becoming useless in the face of IV breeding
though there's still the lack of egg moves to consider...
