Went and bought Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinite today. I didn't know there was pay-to-play DLC. Is it worth it?

Did you not notice that after trying to scam you to pay 10/20/etc it asks if instead you would like to just put on the exact amount required for the game?

Or at least it did for me in the UK when I bought Dream Radar.

Treat Way has a decently high spawn rate of Joy Seeds, so you'll always get two or three level ups regardless of how strong you are. It isn't incredibly hard or anything so you can do it multiple times during the story.

If you're fond of super hard challenges there's Ultimate Wilds.

This and a few other things bug me.

MAJOR BLUNDERS:
>the multiplayer options are only for local play; no online multiplayer
>no personality quiz at the beginning
>only choices are Unova starters, Pikachu, and Axew
>the same damn set of Pokemon in two or three dungeons, with only one or two new ones added in
>the messages that bug you after 30 or so minutes of play saying that you should take a break from playing

MINOR THINGS/PERSONAL PREFERENCE:
>the only exploration team in town (maybe the whole game; haven't finished yet) is the player's team
>the game giving you a legendary right off the bat
>no genders (minor annoyance and a personal preference)
>STILL don't get to actually accessorize your Pokes with neckerchiefs

To even it out, I'll list some positives.
>music is AMAZINGLY good
>dungeons look really nice
>evolutions can occur in dungeons, for either the player's teammates or wild 'mons
>moves get more powerful as you use them (good since the starter mons can get some limited movepools)
>team members not on duty still gain experience (no lagging behind the others)
>good story (taking a friend's word on this one)
>team limit isn't based on size anymore

Are you telling me I don't have to wait until post-game to evolve my pikachu?

How do I get pokémon to join my team? Is it the same as before; just random?

There's the Marill and Eevee lines too. I think a few others, but yes, it is a disappointment. Doesn't even have all the Unova mons. I hope a Gen VI PMD has more Pokemon and a more meaty post-game with actual story since they don't have to worry about putting together the new 3D engine like they had to for Gates, which was probably rushed out because of XY.

I just hope there is a Gen VI PMD and not some pokémon ranger crap.

I still haven't gotten around to getting Pokémon Rumble because it's so expensive right now. And it appears to be getting worse.

Gates did it way better in that there's still some ambiguity left on the situation of "Dead or not?"

There are 147 Pokemon in Gates to Infinity. That's like, somewhere around 70 different lines of Pokemon. Compared to other games, that's pretty damn good. You've got no reason to complain.

Also, once you reach a high rank you'll start receiving challenges from unplayable superbosses like Kuyrem fusions, Lugia, Ho-Oh and Omega Ho-Oh. Even at Lv. 100 it's hard to take them down, most seeds don't work on them and all their attacks hit like the entire room.

In fact the general strategy to beat them is to spam Vile Seeds on them so their defenses fall enough and have yourself eating Violent seeds so your attack gets high enough. And their HP are in the thousands.

The main problem is that there's very little variety on the pokémon sets of the dungeons.

Think of Explorers of Sky. Imagine that you fight the Tower of Time enemy set for four dungeons straight. Gates is like this: you fight the same enemies for four dungeons, then another set for two or three, then another set for the next ones, and so on.

You CAN build a team with 170 pokémon, but it's annoying to fight the same guys over and over and over. Especially Lilligant who can confuse your entire team from anywhere with one move.
