>>16991214The game I used as an example had been out for well over a year in Japan. There was even an enhanced version that had been out for several months.
They only localized the original.
It was like not getting Diamond and Pearl until after Platinum came out. Obviously, they never brought the Professional version over, nor did they actually state that they wouldn't, so the international version didn't sell very well.
Right now, I'm waiting for news about an english release of Dragon Quest VII 3DS, which has been out in Japan for nearly 11 months. DQ games regularly take Square Enix about a year to localize, even though the last main series game to cross the Pacific sold over one million copies outside of Japan. Constant teases from the likes of DQ game designer Yuji Horii and Nintendo reps like Reggie Fils-Amie have been keeping me on edge despite never giving away anything substantial.
It would honestly be an improvement at this stage if they just announced that Dragon Quest was dead forever in the West. Then I could just go ahead and seek out the games in Japanese
somehow, fucking region locks instead of waiting to see if they'll ever be available in a language I can actually understand.
