When I was 10 years old, I entered my very first (and only ;_;) TCG tournament. Lots of people there, ranging from age 8-ish to age 20-somethings, all with one things in common: literally EVERYONE there was a guy, except for me. I was the only girl there.. and a really young one at that, although thankfully the tournament was divided into age groups for fairness. I heard a lot of the boys in my age group say things like, "I hope I get to battle her, she'll be easy to beat."
I ended up winning 1st place in my age group and brought home an awesome trophy for it that I still have to this day. It was a wonderful, wonderful moment.
But seriously, Pokemon is a very gender neutral game. It's silly to treat either gender any differently at ALL when it comes to all things Pokemon related.
