Gen V, even though the story wasn't that great, it was good for a pokemon game and I felt kind of sad that they went backeards.

Though I'll take a 450 pokemon local dex even with only 70 new over a 150 dex of only new stuff any day.

Considering Gen 1 and 2 plots were next to non-existant, really it's the only original plot, and since then every game has been "evil team tries to use box legend to achieve their goal, you beat them up". At least Gen V did id better than the rest though.

I had more fun with gen V than any other Pokemon game since gen III, honestly. I thought the attempt to make a more serious plot was fucking great, especially with the climax featuring not one, but TWO champion-like battles (and then you got to fight the actual champion during the extensive post-game? Fucking amazing).

So while I'm thrilled with many of Gen VI's features, I think it was a step backwards in terms of overall quality.

A legendary that can control other pokes is the antagonist and you must catch the box legendary along with your rival getting the other one to fight it

Pokemon game stories are always bad, 6 wasn't any worse than normal for a pokemon game. It was pretty equal to Gen IV excluding platinum.

Agreed. After they made such a big deal out of Mega Evolution, I was extremely disappointed when there were so few to battle or train during the main game. I would have loved the surprise and challenge if more gym leaders/E4 members had been carrying Megas. Even the occasional Ace Trainer with a Mega would have exciting.

Hopefully next gen. I'm imagining 75 total Megas, every gym leader, E4 member, rivals, evil admins and leader, and a trainer on every route starting when you get your Mega ring. It's going to be great.

Why would you put time and effort into something that people wouldn't pay attention to?

There's a difference between not enjoying something and not paying attention to something. You almost can't help but pay attention to the plot of a game, but if it sucks you won't enjoy it. So maybe they should put effort into making it better.

Maybe instead of everyone needing the special rings, Lysandre's not actually dead and has instead been selling his mega evo tech to build team flare back up again.
