What is preventing farfetch'd from getting an evolution?

Supposedly its a gimmick pokemon. What is the gimmick behind it? Delibird has presents, it would make 0 sense to evolve a letter, sure farfetch'd has the stick, but why can't its evolution just have wield the power of the stick as well?

The gimmick was that it was punishment for trading off a Spearow or something like that. Thankfully, they never did that again, but this poke was never supposed to be good.

Mega Farfetch'd, ability: double sticks, guaranteed critical hit 100% of the time on any move.

Base stats: 52/120/75/18/82/105 gotta reduce little bit from the sp.atk since you can't basically add more than 100BST more.

It's hard to make him viable even with 100bst boost...needs some good ability as well.

I normally don't like drawing so many stat points out of a stat for a Mega Evo but Farfetch'd needs all the help it can get. Farfetch'd would ideally have a bigger movepool and a new move that triggers a good secondary effect on a critical hit.

Stupid powerful move with the ability but even then I can't see Farfetch'd being a worthwhile Mega.

As I said, I don't normally like doing it myself but with only 100 extra stats to give out I had to. Personally, a regular evo would work much, much better. Give it 502 or so BST and a better ability to work with Stick and its high-crit moves as well as Flying/Fighting type and it's already better than a Mega.

I'd stat that at 82/125/60/58/71/106/502. With 100% crits using stick and high-crit moves the most suitable ability might be Sniper. Then the attacks always hit for 2.25x damage + potential STAB and weaknesses.

The game isn't designed as a competitive battling simulator where every pokemon is powerful and viable. There's a definite hierarchy that goes from stuff like Rayquaza and other legends to shit like Beedrill and Farfetch'd.

- The negative effects of certain held items are ignored. Additionally, moves that would consume a held item do not consume the item.

So the sort of items whose negative effects are ignored would be the Toxic/Flame Orb, or Iron Ball or something. Fling would be good with Iron Ball now, as a reliable 130 BP move if you wanted to use it.

A better movepool and an improved signature move would be appreciated also. I'd make Present a pseudo-Judgement by having type-related held items change its type and boost the BP a bit, damage related items enhance BP significantly and healing items (even held potions etc) turn it into a healing move that can target your ally or party pokemon. Miscellaneous or no item keeps the regular Present effect.

Nope. The move doesn't consume the Gem. The item itself does it. Courier wouldn't prevent it. Just things like Fling or Natural Gift.

As lyrebirds are excellent mimics it has a hidden trait where it will attempt to learn any sound-based move used against it at the end of the battle, so it can learn Noble Roar, Parting Shot and Relic Song.

Yes, Sing/Boomburst/Chatter/Parting Shot is a nightmare set to deal with now. Have fun!
